Geetanjali Music and Dance Group

Inspired by the philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore, a Nobel Laureate poet of India, Manasi Adhikari founded the Geetanjali Music and Dance Group in 1989 in Toronto and Waterloo, Ontario. Their focus has been to promote the rich, cultural heritage of Bengal, India among the young generation through music, dance and poetry of Tagore and other renowned Indian composers.

Geetanjali is a registered body of community based non-profit organization and is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. For the past twenty two years, the students and other community members have held annual cultural programs as well as have staged several major productions of Tagore’s dance dramas (opera style musicals) to show case the accomplishments of the students and other young talented community based artists to foster Tagore’s work.

The enthusiasm, commitment and dedication of the students and volunteers attest to the need for such an organization.
